Southern Biscuits

12 to 15 minutes

This recipe is for Southern American style biscuits, made with flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter, and milk, baked until golden.

Ingredients

2 cups AP flour

1 tsp white sugar

1 tbsp baking powder

1 tsp kosher salt

8 tbsp sweet butter

3/4 cup whole milk

Directions

Preheat oven to 425°F

In a bowl combine dry ingredients

Cube butter and add to dry ingredients

Mix butter with hands or fork until a cornmeal consistency is achieved

Add milk and mix until homogeneous

Roll biscuits out to approx. 3/4 of an inch thick

Use a mug, cup, or cookie cutter to cut out rounds of dough

Arrange rounds in a cast iron pan

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes

Remove from oven and eat hot

Will keep on counter or in a brisker
